DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Monday, January 31, 2011

Girls Rugby tryouts and training camp start today at 3:00 on the oval.  Girls, even if you’ve never played, this is your best chance to make a school sports team.  Come out Mondays, Wednesday and Thursday and give the best team sport a try.

Grade 9 Basketball practice cancelled today.

Jr Boys Basketball game at 5pm.

Multi-Culture Club continues with the new semester. ~Come celebrate Chinese New Year with us today at lunch in room C211.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, January 21, 2011

Students going~snowshoeing and tubing at Mt. Seymour~on February 4th need to get their signed forms and money~into Lindsay as soon as possible to secure their seat on the bus.

Today is your last day to purchase your yearbook.  This means both the regular ($50) and the Grad deluxe editions ($60).  Grads, your quotes are expected to be in by the end of January.  If you don’t have a quote turned in we will write one for you.  

An important reminder to Grade 12’s – UFV is recommending that all students apply by January 31st for next September for best changes of being accepted into their program of choice.  Grade 11 students may also apply this year for early admission to UFV’s Bachelor of Science program.  Applications in Counselling Centre.

There will be a short 5min meeting at the BEGINNING of lunch in Mrs. Balback's room, S113 for all students going on the Hemlock ski trip next friday.  Attendance is mandatory.

Very important Football meeting today at lunch in C112.  All must attend.

Today and Thursday a photographer will be her at 2:00pm to take photos for those students wishing to have the free yearbook photo taken.  Photos will be taken in Room C211.

Grade 12 students with a high GPA, community service and an extracurricular background interested in applying for entrance scholarships to UBC, SFU, UVic and UFV must attend a lunch meeting in Mr. Bradley’s room S205, today at 11:05
Attention Aboriginal students - there is a snowshoeing and tubing field trip to Mt Seymour on Friday, February 4th.  If you are interested see Lindsay in room N113 to pick up a field trip form.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Thursday, January 13, 2011

Due to our Snow Day yesterday the LINK Leaders will now be meeting with their Grade 9 crews on Monday, January 17 at the beginning of Block B.  Remember your scripts LINK Leader and your thank you card for your sponsor teacher.  The following LINK leaders need to see Ms Campbell immediately after these announcements - Mahrukh Khan, Dillon McGuire, Jordan Fraser, Bea Fundora-Coba and Aman Ghuman.

Grade 9 students - please remember that the LINK leaders are providing tutoring sessions on Monday and Wednesdays after school next week in C118.  Bring your study materials and get some help with your work from Mahsia, Melissa, Michelle, Jacquie, Theresa, Brigham, Amber and James.

Tomorrow is a Pro-D Day so students you will not be in class tomorrow.  However Saturday School is on - this Saturday, January 15 from 9:00 - 11:30.  Be on time at the front doors to the school.  Yes Mr. Lee that is the front doors at 9:00 am sharp.  Teachers please review with your classes who should be coming to Saturday School this week.  

If you are looking for volunteer opportunities to meet your Volunteer Hour requirements for Grad please listen up.  The Community School is looking for volunteers to help with their Winter Fair which will be held at Abby Middle on Saturday, January 15.  If you could help out from 9:30 - 2:30 please see Ms Campbell immediately after these announcements.  These volunteers will be fed!!!!  If you are interested come see Ms Campbell now!

A reminder to all students that the last day of regular classes is next Friday, January 21 so get your assignments completed and handed in.  Exams begin on Monday, January 24.  Exam schedules will be posted today.

It’s Grad Photo time again.  All grads are required to get their photos taken but if you wish to purchase a package, the sitting fee is $40.00 and a specific appointment is required.  For the free grad yearbook photo, students do not require an appointment and can drop in between Jan. 17 - 20th, between 2:30 and 7:00 p.m.    Appointments and further info is available in the main office.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, January 7, 2011

There will be a meeting for all LINK Leaders on Monday, January 10 @ lunch in the library.  All LINK Leaders must attend.  Please be on time and bring your lunch.

Saturday School is on this Saturday from 9:00 - 11:30.  If you received a letter in the mail or if your teacher has asked you to attend you need to be there.  If you are not sure please check with your teacher.  Please bring all the materials that you need and arrive on time.

A reminder to all students that exam week starts on January 24.  A schedule will be posted soon but check with your teacher for dates and times.

LINK Academic Assistance will take place Monday and Wednesdays during the month of January in C118 for all interested Grade 9 students.  Show up after school to study or get help from a LINK leader.

There is Saturday School this weekend (January 8th), 9:00  - 11:30am.  Anyone failing anything must attend.

Attention Music Students:  Drumline – we are playing at tonight’s game.  You need to be in the music room by 6:45 pm.  If you are playing the Anthems tonight, you need to be in the music room by 7:30pm.

Come out and support the Panthers tonight, 6:30 pm vs. South Kamloops.  It was a great atmosphere yesterday.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Tuesday, January 4, 2011

LINK Academic Assistance for Grade 9 students starts today after school in room C118.  Grade 9 students bring your homework or study materials and work with the LINK leader tutors.

The Pep Rally will take place today during the second Block B at 10:30.  Please listen carefully to the following instructions.  At the beginning of the second Block B all students will report back to their Block B classes.  Teachers will take attendance and then listen for the announcements to be called down to the gym for the Pep Rally.  

Snowball Tournament starts today.  Come out and cheer on your team!  Tournament passes will be available for purchase at the gate later today.  The Buy Out Game will take place this afternoon at 12:45.  All students wanting to attend the Buy-Out game will go to their Block C class, purchase a ticket and then WAIT to be called down to the gym just before the start of the game.  You must have permission from both your Block C and Block D teachers as well as a ticket to attend the Buy-Out game.

There will be a HIB meeting today at the beginning of lunch in W119.

Attention Jazz Band and Drumline:  Please be in the music room 15 minutes before the end of Block B to get ready for the Pep Rally.  This afternoon, jazz band needs to be in the music room by 12:30 and drumline by 1:00pm.

There will be an open gym afterschool today for all basketball players.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS – Tuesday, January 4, 2011

LINK Academic Assistance begins tomorrow, Wednesday, January 5 for any Grade 9 students needing assistance with their academic courses as they prepare for exams.  Any interested Grade 9 students can show up after school tomorrow with their materials in room C 118.  A reminder to LINK Leaders Theresa, Brigham, James and Jacquie to report to room C118 after school tomorrow for your tutoring session

The SnowBall Basketball tournament begins tomorrow.  Wear your Abby gear and panther colours - red and black and come support your team. Tickets will be available for the buy-out game from your Block C teachers tomorrow only.  NO tickets will be available for sale today.  Bring your money tomorrow to Block C to purchase your ticket.

The first Pep Rally of 2011 will take place tomorrow!  Our Leadership students will be getting us energized and psyched for the Abby vs Bateman game.  Let's see a sea of Red and Black at the Pep Rally.

There will be a HIB meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 5th, at the beginning of lunch in W119.

Attention band students - we need musicians to play the anthems (that will sometimes include the american anthem too) for the Snowball games.  This needs to be organized by the end of the day today (TUESDAY), so please come and see Miss H for details and sign-up.  Solos and small ensembles for all!
