A reminder to all Grade 9 Students:  Cookies and Cocoa will take place this Friday, December 9 in Block B.  Make sure you have candy to decorate your gingerbread man that day.

Reminder that Candy Grams are on sale again at lunch in the front foyer.  Give candy canes, roses or chocolate to all your friends.

A reminder that the Junior Police Academy applications are due to Mrs. Doan by Tuesday, December 13th.

Reminder to the Jr. Girls Volleyball team.  You have a short, but important meeting today at the start of lunch in Mrs. Balback’s room.

Thank you to everyone for your crazy hats and scarves!  Tomorrow is tacky Christmas clothes day – everyone will look snazzy in their old silly clothes.

All students signed up for the Europe 2012 trip are reminded that there will be a meeting today at 11:00 am in W119.

If you lost a retainer on the weekend, please pick it up in the office.

Key Club Christmas Dance tickets on sale in the foyer today at lunch.  This is a formal dance and the cost is $8.00 a ticket.  Only 100 tickets left, so hurry and get yours today.

Candy grams for sale at lunch in the foyer. $1.00 for candy cane, $1.50 for candy cane and chocolate and $2.50 for a rose and candy cane.  

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Police Tournament, please see Mr. Abraham.

Aboriginal students, there will be a pizza lunch this Thursday in the library.  

Are you looking for volunteer hours to complete your Grad Transitions?  The Youth  Library  is looking for student volunteers.  See Mrs. Mackenzie or  Rithu Jagannath for more details.  

Any PE student interested in the PE Fishing Trip on September 30th or the Grouse Grind on October 6th please see  Mr. Ciochetti

All players interested in trying out for the senior boys’ soccer team.~ Tryouts will be held today  from 3:15 to 4:15 at Babich Park.~ If you cannot make the tryouts or are unsure where the park is, see Mr. Fetterly in S210.

Wednesday, Sept. 21st, 8:20am will be our first Grad 2012 assembly. Students will go to block A first thing for attendance and then proceed to the Pit. The agenda will include important info on scholarships and post secondary nights and Grad info. Students will also receive their Grad Transitions book at this assembly so it's crucial they all be there. It's expected that the assembly will take an hour.

Attention all band students - a reminder that there is an informational meeting for all parents and students in the Abby Collegiate Music Room TOMORROW NIGHT at 7:00pm sharp.  See you there!

Reminder to all band students that your green forms are now OVERDUE.  Please get them into Miss Hasiuk as soon as possible

Attention all students - Do you like the show "Glee"?  Well there is an abbotsford musician who wants to start a show choir for local singers.  Auditions are on September 24th.  Go to www.valleyartsandtalent.ca or contact Miss Hasiuk for details.

Would all grade 9 and 10 boys who are interested in joining the Jr. Boy's’ Soccer Team please meet in the new gym (the Jungle) at the beginning of lunch today.  It will be a very brief meeting so please don't be late.

Mrs. Webster is still looking for 2 or 3 leadership students who are able to help out on picture day on Monday.  You must have teacher permission to miss blocks A and B.  Please see Mrs. Webster TODAY to volunteer.  All helpers are asked to meet in the office at 7:45 Monday morning.

Message from Mr. McLellan to all Grade 10 Personal Project students going to Camp Squeah.  The trip is on…..see you Tuesday morning.

Don ‘t forget, Monday is PHOTO DAY.  If you did not receive the order information pamphlet, please come by the office and pick one up.  All payments are given directly to the photographer on picture day.  If you are not interested in purchasing a package you still need to get a photo taken for yearbook and school ID.

Panther race Team meeting 2:30 today (Tuesday) in E101.

Students going on the kayaking field trip to Deep Cove with Lindsay...please return your forms and money ASAP!

Girls’ Rugby Team – your permission form and money for the BC’s are due to Mrs. Doan.  Everyone must be at practice on Wednesday.

Hey you rascally Grade 12’s who haven’t turned in your grad anecdote.  There is about 140 of you.  Mrs. Doan has 3 words for you – GET THEM IN!!!

To all Leadership students and Link Leaders.  Reminder to get your Playland forms to Mrs. Webster .  There is still space.

Attention Football Players – equipment will be handed out Wednesday and Thursday after school.

On Friday during Block C the LINK leaders hosted Minute to Win It stations for all Grade 9 students in the Pit.
Ms Campbell would like to thank all the LINK leaders for begin on time, organized and enthusiastic.  Well done LINK leaders!    Grade 9 students a big thank you to all of you for being cooperative and participating in all the stations.  And thanks to all the staff for your flexibility and your patience.

Storm the Wall takes place on June 2 and 3 (next Thursday and Friday).~ All competitors are reminded to get their form packages from the foyer.~ All completed team packages must be handed into Mr. Fetterly and Mr. Grell by Friday, May 27th.

Attention band students:  Just to clarify our schedule this week.  Tonight's concert is for middle school students only, but please feel free to come out and show your support.  Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the concert at ASIA for the concert bands.  Call time is 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00.  Finally, Festival for the concert bands is on Thursday. Miss H put the wrong date on the form.  We leave at 9:30am sharp and will be back a little after 3:00pm.

Any girls wanting to play Sr. Girls volleyball next year need to attend a meeting in C120 on Thurs.
at 11am.  The meeting will take approx. 15 mins......bring your lunch.  Please see Mr. Campbell if you have any questions/concerns.

Can you swim 200 meters, run from Centennial Pool to our track, bike around the track 8 times, and then climb over a 12 foot wall?~ Okay, maybe you can't do that on your own, but you can find 3 friends and put together a team that can do it.  Abby's Storm the Wall competition is back for it's 18th year on June 2nd and 3rd.~ Put together a team of four people (swimmer, runner, biker, and wall support) or tackle the wall on your own in the Ironman competition.~ We have co-ed, men, and women divisions in senior and junior groups. If you want to sign up, or find out more, team sign-up forms are available in the foyer starting on Thursday (or see Mr. Fetterly in S210).~ You must have your sign-up sheets handed in by Friday, May 27th.~ Any questions, see Mr. Fetterly, Mr. Grell, or Mr. Campbell.

There will be a brief meeting for all current LINK Leaders in the library at lunch today.

Attention Music Students – Neufeld Farms orders due Friday.  Last one of the year, so get out there and sell, sell, sell.

As per the May school newsletter, thanks to a PAC grant, we have tickets available to see Bard on the Beach's production of 'The Merchant of Venice' on Wednesday, June 15th.  The play will be at 8 pm at night.  If you are interested in participating on this field trip, please see Ms MJ in W119.  

Aboriginal students ...do you like to kayak, or want to give it a try?  You are invited on a great field trip to explore the waters of Deep Cove in North Vancouver.  See Lindsay in room N113 for more details....space is limited!

Reminder to all Junior Concert Band students that you must attend rehearsal from 2:40 – 3:40 this afternoon. Don’t be late!  Attendance is mandatory.

Students who applied for senior leadership for next year are invited to a brief lunchtime meeting tomorrow in N115, at which time you will find out if you are actually enrolled.  Sadly, application forms are no longer being accepted.  

Reminder that the Multi-Culture Club meets today at lunch in room C211.~ Everyone is welcome to attend!

Attention Personal Project Students.  Please be reminded of 3 very important things:
1) Project students MUST meet with their mentors this week if they haven't done so yet.  
2) Project students MUST be working on their projects and filling in their process journals with information, pictures, diagrams and other resources.
3) Bailey Davis-Elves, Gurpreet Dhaliwal, Isha Farah, Gurwinder Johal, Kaitlin McMaster and Navjot Toor MUST hand in the yellow project contracts to Mrs. Huff by no later than MONDAY!!!

Important message for all Peer Tutors
Journal assignments must be immediately turned in or e-mail to Mr. Ciochetti.  Attendance recording sheets must be turned in on Friday, May 6th.  Autobiography assignments are due May 15th.  New attendance sheets for May and June can be picked up in the counsellor’s office or from Mr. Ciochetti.  You need to complete your journal assignments and autobiography assignments or you will receive an Incomplete for Peer Tutoring.

Reminder that the Multi-Culture Club meets Mondays at lunch in room C211.~ Everyone is welcome to attend!

Important message for all Peer Tutors
Journal assignments must be immediately turned in or e-mail to Mr. Ciochetti.  Attendance recording sheets must be turn in on Friday, May 6th.  Autobiography assignments are due May 15th.  New attendance sheets for May and June can be picked up in the counsellor’s office or from Mr. Ciochetti.  You need to complete your journal assignments and autobiography assignments or you will receive an Incomplete for Peet Tutoring.

Congratulations to the Abby Dance Team for winning silver in the Envee dance competition on Friday.  

There will be a very important Grad Assembly for all Grade 12 students on Wednesday, May 4 in the Abby Arts Center during Block B.  All Grade 12 students should plan to attend to receive critical information about getting on the Grad List, Grad Transitions and Grad Activities like Convocation, the Grand March and Prom!!  Go to your Block B class and you will be called down for the Assembly on Wednesday!

Abby’s Got Talent is today at lunch in the Abbey Arts Centre.  Admission is $1.00.

Sr. Girls soccer players – you’re bus for Langley leaves at 2:15pm.  You are dismissed from class at 2:00 pm with your teacher’s permission.

Grads - Listen carefully.  Mrs. Mackenzie is now accepting nomination for this year's Grad Speaker.  The Grad Speaker will address the graduating class at convocation.  Your Grad Speaker must be on the Grad list therefore meeting all grad requirements including Grad Transitions, a respected member of the grad class, have demonstrated a strong school spirit, be involved in school activities and has made a positive contribution to this year's grad class.  If you know someone like this please nominate this person to be the Grad Speaker of the Class of 2011 by giving their name to Mrs. Mackenzie BEFORE Friday, April 29.

Any current Grade 9, 10 or 11 students who are interested in becoming a LINK leader for next year please plan to attend an informational meeting at lunch in the library on Friday, April 29.  For more information please see Ms Campbell.

Grads time is running out to complete your Grad Transitions Booklet and exit interview.  Please sign up for an exit interview with an administrator or a counsellor this week.

Any students wanting to take Peer Tutoring and/or Student Leadership next year.  You must have your application forms completed and returned to the counselling office by Friday, April 29.  Students who do not complete an application form cannot be enrolled in the course next year.  Please see your counsellor or Ms Campbell for an application form.

Attention all students - anyone interested in serving on the Abbotsford Youth Council please see Ms Campbell for more information immediately after these announcements.

Grade 12 students applying for UBC may now self report on line for an instant offer of admission.  See Mrs. Doan for help and your interim transcript.

An important reminder to all Grade 12 students applying to a post secondary that you must authorize electronic release of your transcript to the Ministry of Education.  The early submission deadline is April 30th.

Reminder to Jazz band and Drumline students to be in the music room tomorrow at 10:15am to get ready for the pep rally.

Girls Rugby players and the football team are reminded to turn in their hanging basket orders and money to their coaches by Thursday.
