All senior boys’ soccer players are reminded that the bus leaves the school at 1:15 today for you playoff game vs. North Delta.  You will need to immediately make your way to the bus at the end of block D - 1:05.

To all Key Club members – Please meet at lunch time today to take a group picture.  If the weather  is sunny we will do it in the court yard.  If it is raining, we will take the picture in the Key Club room.

Hey all you Grade 9 students.  You know you want to get out of school next Wednesday.  You don’t want to do “special” assignments and the dreaded beep test.  Hand in your “Take Our Kids to Work” permission forms to your Block B teacher or the Counselling Centre.

Hey Panthers, there is a huge game this week for the senior football team.  On Friday they take on the Rick Hansen Hurricanes.  Come out and support panther football.  The game is at Rotary Stadium on Friday.  Kickoff at 3:00pm.

Multi- culture club meeting at lunch on Monday in room C211. ~Next week is sign language day!

Abby prayer group meets again today in C212. Everyone's welcome!

The Junior Boys football team travelled to Samuel Roberts Tech yesterday and left with a big 21-6 victory.  The QB-receiver pair of Carter Williams and Mitch Follett combined for three touchdown passes -- from 6 yards, 30 yards and 35 yards. The defense came up big with two sacks each from Ben Prince, Cory Winkler and Terrance Toews.  James Pauls had another standout game with 79 yards rushing and Niko Jantzen.

Any student who is a cadet and who would like to perform sentry duty at the Remembrance Day Assembly is asked to see Mrs. Webster FRIDAY at lunch in N115.  All leadership students involved with the assembly or students who've signed up with Mrs.Caviggia to help out are also asked to attend this meeting.

The senior boys soccer team opened the playoffs with a 4 to 1 win over Johston Heights of Surrey.  Simmi Singh had 3 goals and Trent Mayer scored 1 goal.   The defense was especially strong with Sahib Phagura and Kam Tamber providing a strong central defensive presence.  The midfield pair of Kree Byrne and Brodie Walker did well, with Kree providing his presence all over the field.  

Congratulations to the Panther Cross Country Team for an excellent performance at yesterday's Fraser Valley Championship!!  The highlight of the event was Bukky Oldeji's 17th overall finish out of over 100 girls in the junior girls race!! Well done all Panther athletes!!!

The boys will play their next game in North Delta on Thursday at 3:00 at Delsom Park.  All team members are asked to talk to Mr. Fetterly for departure times.

LINK leaders for Mrs Janzen, Mr Keeley, Mr Milne and Mr Hills Block B class please meet in the Cafeteria at 10:00 am to set up for the Great Pumpkin Event.

Teachers - You will find incomplete student demographic forms for students in your Block A class.  Please return these forms to the students and have them correct and update the info and return the sheets to you.  We need a parent email address if one is available and correct parent phone numbers.  Please return the completed forms to Mrs. Glenn's mail box.

The Jr. Girls Volleyball team slayed the Yale Lions in 5 exciting games yesterday. Gr. 9 Minnie Intharanya carried the team to victory with her timely kills. Way to go Panthers!

The senior boys’ soccer team begins the Fraser Valley playoffs tomorrow vs. Johnston Heights of Surrey at 3:00 at Babich Park (Yes that is a three o'clock for the kickoff time).  Come out and support the team as they play their first playoff game of the 2010 season.

A HUGE congratulations to the junior girls volleyball team for their 3rd place finish in the Grizzly junior varsity tournament this weekend.  The girls had a great tournament in which they defeated Sardis, GW Graham, Chilliwack Secondary and had a very close loss to Yale Secondary.  Brooklyn Wagner was awarded all star of the tournament.  Congratulations girls!  Come out and support them in their last two home games, Tuesday against Yale and Thursday versus Abby Christian.

School Dance tomorrow, buy your tickets in the foyer at lunch.

Students who did not attend the Principal’s Reception and did not get their Principal’s Honor Roll Certificate can come to the office at lunch or after school to pick it up.

There will be a meeting for HIB students on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in W119 at 11:00 AM.

Attention all LINK Leaders;  there will be a very brief LINK leader meeting today at lunch in the library.  All LINK leaders please plan to attend!

Grade 12 students going to UFV next year – meet one on one with an Educational Advisor here at Abby this Thursday during lunch and Block D.  There are 5 spots left from 12:15 until 12:45.  Sign up today in the Counseling Centre.

Attention all movie-goers: Playing this week during Lunchtime Movie Club is "The Blind Side," starring Sandra Bullock.  Movie starts tomorrow (that's Wednesday) at 11:00 in Room C218 and will play through until Friday.  Everyone is welcome, so see you all at movie club tomorrow!

The Junior Boys Soccer team had a very tough game against Samuel Robertson Technical from Maple Ridge yesterday. The battle was hard but the team prevailed with a 1 - Nil victory. Bryan Perez scored by dribbling through a myriad of defenders and roofing the shot in to the top left corner. Honorable mention to Austin Schmidt, on the backline, for his solid defensive effort and Cody Hartle for his second clean sheet of the season. The boys play again Wednesday vs. Credo Christian.

The football team would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the team on Friday.  Panther spirit looked alive and well.  Our next home game is on Oct 29th at Rotary Stadium versus the Rick Hansen Hurricanes.  Kickoff is at 3:00pm.

A cell phone was stolen out of a backpack that was left in the band room on Thursday.  There is a $50.00 reward for any information leading to its return.  If you have any information, please contact Mr. Campbell.

All Hair Show models listen up!  There is a mandatory rehearsal for all commercial segment models at 2:45 in the theatre today.  That’s all commercial models at 2:45 in the theatre.

The senior boys soccer team will be playing its last regular season game on Tuesday at 3:30 at Babich Park vs. Clayton Heights.  This is the last league game before the Fraser Valley Playoffs begin.  Come out and cheer the team on as they try to improve on their 5 wins and 1 loss record and 25 goals scored this season.

Mandatory meeting at the beginning of  lunch today for all those participating in the Fishing Trip tomorrow. Everyone must attend.  There are still 4 spots left for anyone interested.  Please attend the meeting as well.

The CTV game of the week this Friday has changed to a 5:30pm kick off in order to facilitate the film crew and also the crowd shots during the game.  

Hello Abby.  Are you interested in the environment and looking for a way to put ideas to action?  Abby is starting up a Green Team.  Come and make a difference.  It is good for the school, it is good for the environment and it’s good for your soul.  Interested students should come and sign up with Ms. Harrop in room N111.  We will be meeting after school on Monday, October 18th

Attention Staff and Students: Abby’s Music Department is joining forces with ASIA and Abby Traditional to put on a combined concert tomorrow, Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Abbey Arts Theatre.  The concert is free, so come out and support our program.

SPC cards are still on sale.  Pick one up in the front foyer at lunch.

Music Students – Neufeld chicken and dessert order form and money are due today.  However Miss Hasiuk will accept them as late as tomorrow afternoon but no later.

Attention all movie-goers:  Starting this week, Mrs. Huff welcomes you to visit her classroom, Room C218, on Wednesdays and Thursdays to take part in "Abby Collegiate's Lunch time Movie Club."  Bring your lunches and come enjoy each week's movie selection.  Movies start promptly at 11:00 and run until 11:40.  Playing this week is a selection from "Planet Earth".  See you all at Movie Club!

Attention all Junior girls volleyball players.  The bus to Abby Christian will be leaving at 2:10 today.  You are excused from class at 2:00 to catch the bus.

All drag racers, football, rugby, volleyball, basketball ,and leadership the checkpoint 2 for the Panther Card fundraiser is today after school.  Be there right away and hand in your money.  Also a reminder that the Blitz for the cards is Thurs at 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  Meet in the Cafeteria.

The senior boys’ soccer team plays Brookswood today at 3:30 at Brookswood Secondary.  The boys are reminded that the bus leaves at 12:30 and you are excused from class at 12:20.  Please ensure that you talk to your block C teacher to find out what work will be missed.  If you have any issues, talk to Mr. Fetterly in S210.  The next home game for the boys is on Thursday.

There will be a quick 5 minutes homeroom  just before lunch to hand out the student photos.  Reminder that retake day will be Tuesday.  Students wanting retakes will need to bring their entire photo package back to the photographer.  Students who missed the first picture day are able to have packages made up for them.  Order forms are in the office.  All students are encouraged to have their picture taken for a school ID card and photo in the yearbook.

LISTEN UP ABBY!!!  Get your gear and/or fan bus ticket to the BIG GAME at lunch starting today!  come to the front foyer and check out our killer red t-shirts, Abby scarves, tattoos and Panther Paws!  We are going to be a sea of RED at Rotary Stadium Friday, October 15th as our Panther Varsity Football team destroys the Mission Roadrunners live on CTV!  T-shirts are $6, Scarves are $10, Tattoos are a buck and Paws are $10.  We also have great deals on combos!!  Tickets for the fan bus are $2.  GO PANTHERS!!!!

A HUGE congratulations to the junior girls volleyball team for their victory over top ranked Yale Secondary Yesterday.  The girls defeated Yale 3 matches to 1.  Players of the Game were Brooklyn Wagner, Tiffany Pickett and Helena Teteris.  Way to go girls!

The Senior Boys Soccer team had a stellar performance yesterday against Chilliwack Secondary.  The boys played an awesome first half by scoring two goals.  Both goals were scored by # 12 Trent Mayer.  They finished the game by a goal, scored by Kiran Yodagowa.  Final score was 3 – 0.  The back line was solid.  Sahib and Kree showed strong leadership on the field and the defenders held exceptionally well.  The team now has a record of 3 wins and 1 loss and have outscored their opponents 15 – 4.  Next game is away at Brookswood and Thursday is a home game against Yale.  Thanks you for all the fan support.

Don’t forget to bring in your non-perishable food items for the Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Items will be picked up from your Block A class.

SAVE THIS DATE:  Wednesday, October 20th is our first school dance!  Mark it in your calendars... the theme is:  BEWITCHED!  Start thinking costumes....

Grad clothing will be on sale in the front foyer next week at lunch.  Hoodies are $50 and Pants are $35.

The junior boys’ soccer team suffered a tough 2-0 loss to MEI last night.  The boys dominated the game, but were unable to get the goals with 2 crossbars, 2 goalposts, and many other good chances.  Special mention goes out to Brodie Walker and Brayan Perez for their strong work in the midfield and goalie Cody Hartle for providing backup to the defense when they needed it.  The junior boys play their next game on Wednesday at Aldergrove.

The senior boys’ soccer team members are reminded that they are excused from class at 1:50 today and that their bus leaves at 2:00 for their game against Langley.

Attention staff and students - Student Price Card sales have been extended for one more week.  We will have a table set up every day in the front lobby.  They are $9 each.  See you there!

SAVE THIS DATE:  Wednesday, October 20th is our first school dance!  Mark it in your calendars... the theme is:  BEWITCHED!  Start thinking costumes....

Grad clothing will be on sale in the front foyer next week at lunch.  Hoodies are $50 and Pants are $35.

Attention music students - Neufeld Chicken order forms are now ready in the music room.  Please come and pick them up so that you can SELL, SELL, SELL!

Attention staff and students - Student Price Card sales have been extended for one more week.  We will have a table set up every day in the front lobby.  They are $9 each.  See you there!

Multi Cultural Club is back! Join us today at lunch in room C211 – meet new people, enjoy free food, and get volunteer hours to graduate!

Link Leader meeting Tuesday at lunch in the library.  Bring your lunch.

Senior Girls Volley Ball will have their practice Tuesday after school – not Monday.  Bring your uniform tops to practice for a Team picture on Tuesday, 2:45 – 4 pm.

Congratulations to all members of the Abby Run for the Cure team who came out on such a lovely day yesterday to run and walk for a cure for breast cancer. Way to go, Panthers!

Cross Country team members are asked to attend practice TODAY after school.~ The next meet is Wednesday, so today's practice is essential!
