DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: Thursday, January 21, 2010

There will be one more Saturday School this Saturday from 9:00 - 11:30.  Any students who are failing classes or missing assignments should plan to be there.

Work Experience Students that wish to have their course completed by the end of this semester MUST see Mr. Burns by the end of today in order to make sure all assignments are complete and the documentation of their work hours has been properly filed.

All you Rugby players out there.  Official rugby practices start on Monday, February 1st for all boys and girls, with the exception of those on the basketball teams.  Warm up starts at 2:45.  Dress for the weather.  Any questions see one of the coaches.

Important information for Grade 12 students.  There will be an Entrance Scholarship meeting today at lunch in Mr. Bradleyís room, S205 for all students with an outstanding academic record, as well as extra curricular activities.

Reminder to get going with your post secondary applications.  UFV is guaranteeing admission to certain programs if you apply by January 31st.  Ontario universities and McGill should be completed by January 31st.  CBC universities have a February 29th deadline.  See Mrs. Doan for help.

Abbotsford Collegiate Prayer Group will be meeting today at lunch in Portable 3. Everyone is welcome to come on out! Please bring your lunch.

Attention all Abby Sun Runners, there is a mandatory meeting in S113 at the beginning of lunch.

A Reminder to all volleyball players that there is volleyball today afterschool at Abby middle.

All leadership students are reminded that they must complete their Leadership interview by 4:00 today.  Any student who doesn't attend the leadership interviews will not get a mark for the class.  Any problems, contact Mr. Fetterly at the end of the day.

Any leadership student who needs to hand in their classroom evaluations must hand it in by the end of the day to Mr. Fetterly.

Attention Abby Collegiate ñ There will be students coming around during block C today to collect donations for the Haiti relief fund.  Also, those students who will be collecting donations, please report to room S217 at the beginning of Block C.

Any students or parents interested in the International Bacclaureate Program should attend an information meeting this evening in the library at 7:00 pm.  Come find out what IB is all about and how it can change your life and broaden your horizons.

Any students interested in joining the Abby sun run team should sign up TODAY!  Don't wait there are only 6 spots left!

The Junior Boys Basketball team played a very strong game yesterday to defeat the Sardis Falcons by a score of 57 to 45. Mike Guron, T J Gill, Arsh Dhaliwal, and Dallas Yassinsky all scored in double figures to help lead the charge and secure the win over Sardis. The team plays again tomorrow versus Rick Hansen at 3:30 in our gym. Come out and cheer for your Panthers.

Anyone interested in joining the Abby sun run training team should see Mrs. Balback in room S113 to sign up.  No running experience is necessary, this 13 week program will train runners of any ability level to be able to complete the 10 k sun run.  Don't wait to sign up, space is limited to 40 students and is already 50% filled.

Attention Y.E.S. members,  There will be a meeting today at lunch in S217.  Y.E.S. is planning fundraisers to support the relief effort in Haiti. This meeting will be open to Leadership, Key Club, or any other students interested in raising money for the disaster in Haiti.  So donít forget, Y.E.S. meeting today at lunch in S217.

Due to the PRO-D Day this Friday, the Abbotsford Collegiate Prayer Group will be meeting tomorrow, Thursday at lunch.  Everyone is welcome to come on out, and remember... The Prayer Group will be this Thursday!

Attention Grads:  Grad photos are next week.   Please stop by the office at lunch or after school to make your appointment and pick up information for Grad Quotes.  

The KEY Club is looking for new members from grades 9, 10 and 11. This is a good opportunity to learn leadership skills, help people in your community, get volunteer hours for graduation, and get a chance at some scholarships in the future.  If you are interested, come to room C214 on Thursday at lunch to hear more information about Key Club!

The following students are reminded of the Developmental Asset planning meeting today at 3:00 in room C 112:  Sukhpreet Nagpal, Aneesha Dhillon, Jorin McSween, Kirsten Fisher and Nadine Thoma.  If you can not attend this meeting please come see Ms Campbell,  Any other students that were trained in the Developmental Assets last year that would like to take part in planning for the Launch Day should come see Ms Campbell.

Any students in grades 9, 10 or 11 interested in participating in the Canadian Math Contests in February are welcome to come for contest preparation and more information this Wednesday, January 13th at lunch in room C114.  Bring your lunch!  See Mrs. Cumiskey or Mr. DevVries for more details.

The Jr. Boys Basketball Team staged an spectacular , come from behind, victory against Unity Christian last night. TJ Gill hit for some critical baskets down the stretch and did a masterful job as Floor General. Jeremy Pauls accounted for a number of key steals that resulted in timely baskets. Mike Guron survived early foul trouble and played great denial defense on the opposition's Big Men. All the members of the team stepped up their play to produce the 50 - 48 victory. Well Done Jr. Boys.

Touch Rugby will begin today at 2:45 after school on the practice field.  All interested male and female rugby players are encouraged to come.  Come burn off some holiday dinners and kick our season off properly. Practices will be Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until February.
